Battle of the Somme Exhibition – Mezzanine Floor – Burnham Park Hal

An exhibition commorating the Battle of the Somme is now on show on the mezzanine floor in Burnham Park Hall.

Four local schools – Dropmore, St Peter’s, Burnham Grammar and Burnham Academy have produced paintings and poems, depicting the terrible carnage which took place between 1 July – 18 November 1916.

Over 19000 of our troops were killed on the first day of the battle.

Prizes of £50 were awarded to each of the schools which was sponsored by Burnham Foundation. Their support is very much appreciated. We would also like to thank the schools for taking part in this historic event.
